The theory is that as the materials used in a caravan are different to those in your, say, bathroom, you need different products to clean them. Many household cleaning products use aggressive agents such as sodium hydroxide (caustic), metasilicates, acids, abrasives, or solvents. Very good on hardened ceramics but using them on delicate plastics/acrylics in the van may create problems with their degradation, fading of the gloss, sealants and mastics drying and cracking.
The range of caravan cleaning products on the market have been specially formulated for use on the materials used in vans.
