My fridge refused to work from the mains electric, been looking around for a new element and the cheapest I found was about £30 then on Ebay the other day I saw a used one for a couple of pounds so decided to take a chance on it, fitted it last night and it works a treat now !!

Took about 30 mins to remove the fridge, change it and refit it back into the caravan much easier than i thought !

So I can now have a nice cold beer while away, next outing 10th/11th July in Grange over Sands.

Just need to repair the roof vent tonight as it came away from the handles last outing !

Can you please tell me how, you knew it wasnt working  as I think I may have the same sort of problem with mine. As we have just got back from a w/end away and the fridge just didnt want to get cold at all ( even with at the highest setting) but it was the hottest w/end of the yr so far and the sun was beating on that side of the vam all day so Im hoping that was the cause

hi covkid

The fridge worked fine when on gas, although not very cold on a hot day, which I think is quite normal for a caravan fridge.

When it was switched to mains electric there was nothing just stayed at room temp.

Why not hook up your van at home and leave it running to check it, it will prob get colder in the evening when the suns gone down.

Cheers tonnee, Thanks for that info as it sounds just like what has happened to us this w/end. Just wished now I'd tried the gas  but it was too much effort in that heat

Cant do the home thing as its stored down in sussex but I hope to pop down soon ( on my own ) to do a few little jobs to the van.

Thanks again

if it is the element, it was a very easy job to replace just a philips screwdriver and a spanner needed took about 30 mins.

Hope you manage to get it sorted out !
