The struts have gone on my heki rooflight. I have found a firm that will referb them for £12.50 if possible or provide replacements for 21.50 if not(big saving on heki price). The problem is removing the old units. The hinge pins are set into counter bores(for the cover cap) and recessed into their own bores. There is nothing to get hold of. and no way to access the other side to drive them through, short or drilling an access hole which I am reluctant to do on old plastic! Has anyone done this job? Am I missing something? Any ideas please?
Thanks
Brian

Unfortunately, you may have no option but to replace the complete danmper and hinge assembly. Drilling the securing pins out is possible I suppose but having looked at my heki the plastic looks a bit fragile.
Hi brianjoise hope you see this. Did you manage to get those new struts for your heki without paying the crazt heki price? If so where did you get them from as mine are knackered and can not be regassed. £25 down the pan trying. Keeping fingers crossed Mishmash
I have just bought a pair of 330mm Gas Struts from SGS for £47 the pair.
I found that for the bottom two pin covers, one was already missing, and the other cover picked out easily. My first go at the top covers was unsuccessful, and I've now bought a £3 "Rolson Hook and Pick" 4 toolset via Amazon for my second go - when it's dry.
Someone said above that the Dometic price for the kit is crazy, and they are correct. The kit does include new covers and pins.
No problem, it's what forums are best at, passing on knowledge.
Like many things, it helps if you the name of the the thing you are looking for. The interrnet is wonderful, but it can be time consumming and frustrating if you don't know where to look.

I’m planning to do this task this Wednesday. I have bought from Amazon for £4 a small set of pick and hooks, but will also take my drill. Of the bottom caps, one had already disappeared without me realising, and the other flicked out easily. The top ones I now know are called capoed Starlock washers. I will take my vernier over in case I demolish them abd need to get replacements. They clip onto the top pin to stop movement of the arm. I’m hoping the little set if picks will be small enough to flick them out. I will have some masking tape to try and catch the Starlocks as they flip off. I have bought repl 330mm arms from SGS Engineering- a Brit company! Good luck!
