Hi, checking everything over before this weekends departure and found i had no reverse light on caravan. changed bulb, checked fuses but still no light. anyone any ideas?

check all connections,may just need cleaning.12s = pin 1 or 8 on a 13 pin.

Do you have twin electrics on your car? If not you will have no caravan reverse light. Reverse light is pin1 on 12s(grey)socket. or pin8 on 13pin socket. Check with voltmeter for power with car ignition on, in reverse.

FAO Michael / Tentz, Amazing, I was just about to post my problem that my reversing light and fog light have stopped working. I had notice the reversing wasn't working a few weeks ago and yesterday discovered the fog too was broken. That got me suspicious that it might be something other than the bulb.

Coincedently I have changed my car and the grey cable no longer reaches the socket so have been running with just the black cable in. Is this the reason the 2 lights have stopped working?

If so I will get a longer grey cable fitted ASAP!

On another note Michael, I have no joy getting hold of the locker box hinges from the breakers so my brother in law is now going to make some instead but thanks anyway.

yes the grey plug runs fridge charges battery fog lights and reverse light so you need longer grey cable on car if fitted!!

ohh micheal sneaks in the wiring that no one seems to use on the 7 pin plug but this wont fix the reverse light

All trailers have to have a fog light so that wire is always in the black 12n plug and socket as in Michael's wiring diagram, the reverse light is not legally necessary but is wired through the gray 12s plug on caravans.

Because there is so much play in the twin plug and socket arrangement they are very prone to electrical breakdown - so after checking for a non-functional bulb check the plug and socket for dirty contacts and clean.

If you get to the point where you need to buy new socket and plugs, I suggest that you change to the 13 pin system and eliminate further plug and socket problems

jamesA114 some sockets have a fog light cut out switch in, if these go faulty they can stop the fog lights working to.
