Hi
I wonder if anyone can answer my question: We have a 1993 bailey discovery which we bought last year. It had been serviced at a dealers in 2008. My brother in law who is a car mechanic serviced the brakes etc but is unable to service the gas. We had a few problems getting the hob to light a couple of weeks ago but after disconnecting and reconnecting the gas bottle it was ok - we presumed there was litte gas left. So today we went to our local caravan dealer to get a new gas bottle and they said they thought ours was nearly full - and advised us to buy a new regulator and hose - which we did. My question is do we need to get the gas serviced?? We never use anything but the hob from the gas, we always use the electric for fridge, heater etc.
Thanks in advance for any advice
Deb x

Would you get a gas hob serviced in the home? Probably not but you do need to check the condition of the flexible hoses.

its best to get it all looked at. when they do a check, they check from the regulator right the way back to your appliances.

best to be safe than sorry!

The flexible hose is just the bit from regulator in your bottle locker. If you have fitted new regulator & hose & your cooker is now working ok, then as long as you cannot smell any leaking gas you will be ok. A gas service just consists of checking for leaks & making sure all appliances are working ok. Any repairs are chargable extra.

If you are going to be using fridge & heater on gas then a service is probabley a good idea but if you are only using cooker & its now working ok I would leave it.
