Hi everyone. I've tried to found an answer to my question without success. Can someone help with some advice on cleaning the fresh water tank on our Thetford toilet.

We always use the pink loo stuff - but since we've had the caravan every time we flush there is black/grey particles they come with the water. I thought it might be limescale? We've flushed it out with clean water - but still have the muck coming out.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Michelle

It is the Pink stuff that causes this. I stopped using it and use Fenwicks Top and Tail now.
The only way I know of getting rid of the black bits is to keep flushing with plain old water it will take a wile but it should eventually clean itself.

Top and tail you can use in both tanks but I just use plain water in the fresh water tank now. We only use the toilet for number ones.

Hope this is of some help.

I used Fenwicks Fendox in the tank - soaked it overnight then flushed through with water. I now also just use Top and Tail. As mentioned above it does gradually go away - we're down to just a few particles when the flush runs out. Soon be gone ! It's fungus apparently !

It's the thetford pink that causes it, you don't get it with elsan double pink. Flush your tank out with water till it runs clear, then use elsan double pink.
Twin pack of 2 lt.double blue & 2 lt. double pink is £14.99

We had the same when we bought our van - pink had been used in it. We rinsed it out with Milton and then just started using Fenwick Top & Tail - after being used for about 10 nights there are hardly any black bits left (and it was mainly black bits when we started...)

Great - thanks to you all for your responses.

I'll have a go at flushing it out again!
