advice please - there seems to be some difference of opinions as what to do on winter storage of caravan as far as either pulling down the blinds or leaving them up . I would welcome any thoughts on this,

Many thanks

James

I leave ours closed - all except one.

The reason for closing them is to stop sunlight fading the interior and also to stop the internal temp. from rising and falling too much. I suspect it's better to keep the internal temp as constant as possible during storage.

I leave one open so any theiving little blighters looking for things to steal can see that all valuables have been removed. I used to close all the blinds and someone ripped the door off our van just to see what was inside.

excactley as above, just leave the back one up,I know sone will say don't leave the closed as the spring or whatever will stretch, but Ive done this for ever and it's been ok, plus I really don't want my uphostery fading... It's pretty :)

We were advised of the danger of detensioning the springs if you leave the blinds down too long so we made a set of curtains out of blackout curtain lining for use when the van is in storage. We didn't want to leave the blinds down and risk stretching the springs. These curtains are on wires and held with hooks and eyes. We also have a seperate piece of material that we cover the area where sunlight gets to from the rooflight. On site we just put up the ones on the windows beside the beds, takes about 30 seconds and keeps out all the light including the bit that gets in under the blind. . No spring damage and no reupholstering.

We close all the curtains, to stop prying eyes & the sunshine to stop fading. We work on the theory that curtains are cheaper than blinds, which dont like being under tension.
