Hi

Can anyone give me any advice on cleaning the outside of my caravan please?.  As a single woman (and only 5' 2" lol) I am having trouble trying to work out how on earth to clean the roof, around the roof lights is filthy.  Also is it ok to use t cut to get rid of the black streaks on the caravan sides? any advice would be greatly appreciated :-)

 hi kanroth[:D]

1st " all good things come in small packages "

to clean van, need pair of decent stepladders, extendable washbrush, decent rectangular washbucket, couple of bottles of "fenwicks caravan cleaner",get this from any caravan dealers shop!.

long hosepipe with spray attachment to fit, hoselock do a decent one!!.

lot of elbow grease and enthusiam, patience and energy.

hope you can get it done,it will look smart when you have finished and make you proud.

Jet washing has the potential to damage the seals on a van. Causing such damage with the water on jet can then invalidate your water ingress warranty. As caravans are not built to the same level of robustness as a car a different approach to cleaning is required.

I use a vileda squeegie mop which has a very soft foam replaceable brush head. That only reaches half way across the roof so its a case of do one side and then move the ladder to the other side. Roof lights are raised so I can clean the dirt out from under the covers........ and avoid splashing otherwise the water drips onto the cushions!!!

Rinse down with a gentle spray.

I use the Fenwicks and often finish off with Fenwicks Bobby Dazzler. Gets rid of the streaks with effort. Leave the streaks too long and they are much harder to remove

Phil

Just to add, dont use T-cut for the streaks. Yes, it will remove streaks but I'tl be hard work to remove the T-cut. T-cut is better for removing scratches as its an abrasive compound. Fenwicks caravan cleaner will do to remove the streaks with much less effort. I just washed the roof of mine and had to use 2 step ladders and a board across together with a long extendable brush. Dont bash the roof light with the brush, there not very robust! What did you think of Looe then? I live 3 miles away.

I'm 5ft 6 and I still have trouble with the roof! I hate going up step ladders so my roof doesn't get done that often I'm afraid - I can only see it from the bedroom window anyway .

I wash the caravan with a brush on an extending handle but I've found the best thing for the black streaks is the waterless cleaner that there have been several threads about on here. I haven't found the Fenwicks to be a lot of use to be honest.

A little WD-40 on a rag will get rid of the black streaks in seconds.

Fenwicks black streak remover does the job with ease.

T cut will do it but as the name suggests it "cuts" the paint i.e.removes the top surface. Eventually it will wear the paint away.

As for issues with height - do you have a pair of very high heels? If not then a step ladder or brush/sponge on a stick.

Hi,I run a window cleaning business using the water fed pole system, this system  is an ideal solution for cleaning caravans as it does not do the damage that a power washer can and also has no need for the use of chemicals (note when soaps are used dirt will stick to it when it is left to dry)using 100% pure water that will  lift and remove such things like moss etc.A local window cleaner should charge arond £20 for a touring size caravan.Hope this is of some help to you for the future.

regards rob
