hi this might sound dratf but am not sure how to light my grill on the gas cooker  i looked in and seen a place but a bout 5 mins after lighting it it a big flame shot out from the grill am not sure if i lite it right but truned it of and dont no if its broke or i cant work it anyhelp please

Firstly it would seem you can light the grill, secondly what were you cooking when the flame shot out - anything fatty is likely to spit fat which would be ignited by the grill.

Failing that, I would seriously have someone with knowledge look at it for you - your life is worth more than the cost of a service

On mine, I have to press and hold the gas knob down and hold it down for a few seconds after its lit.

What may have happened, it could have looked it lit, but the flame goes out when the knob is released, if not held down for long enough.

Maybe if the flame went out without you noticing, and you had the hobs going , you could have had a build up of gas under the grill that then got caught alight by the hobs, causing the flare up.
