not a very happy bunny now, just had van inspected today for estimate for repairs to front.
have got severe damp and rot in woodwork over front windows and vertical supports on either side, needs to be taken in and stripped at front end from waist upwards to just over windows to roof line!!!!
estimated cost £800-£1000,good thing bout it tho.it will come back perfect and guaranteed.
still not happy tho.as i don't think i can do it myself,no undercover area to work in.
poor you hope it gets fixed and you feel safe in the knowledge there is no more water coming in,are you sure you couldnt do it yourself ,it would save you a fortune ,either way it has to be done good luck
If you are able to do the repair I wouldn't let the lack of a workshop/garage/barn stop you. We're undertaking our repair on the driveway and lots of the Fixed It club members have too.
Obviously its a personal choice and a major factor must be that the dealer will guarantee the work but I suppose it comes down to whether you think you can do it, whether you want to do it and whether the van is worth the £800 - £1000 the dealer has quoted.
All the best with whatever you decide to do,
Kelly
(P.S - we're blogging our repair, if you click on the red My Homepage button above you'll see our front window frame repair - just to give an idea of what you might be facing if you decide to tackle it yourself)
we had to do our repair in our drive but tied tarpaulin to our fence and managed to tie it to clothes poles at the other side ,the tarpaulin definately kept the rain at bay ,and i can assure you there was plenty off it,you will see photos from fix it site where others have used tarpaulin and fixed them in the drives ,all the best for your wee challenge
