can anyone help! ive taken the plunge and stripped out the inside of my 1998 abbey county warwick to tackle the dreaded damp all up the left hand side, ive found with the boards removed that the cause of my problem is the bonding on the aluminium sides ( where they over lap) the glue has gone and i can accually put my fingers thru the seam! what i need to know is what glue to use to bond the ally back together, any ideas?
Any decent epoxy will do it. West System Epoxy is extremely strong stuff but very runny (unless you thicken it to a paste with micro fibres/balloons) so you need to mask the area very well.
If you use this stuff properly the join will never ever come apart!
This stuff takes a long time to cure so you have plenty of time to work, just make sure it isn't too cold when you do it and ensure you get the epoxy/hardener mix exactly right.
