If it is a thetford fridge ring Thetford direct,we had the same trouble (except ours froze everything solid) they put the part in the post , we received the new thermostat within 48hrs which took the other half 5 mins to fit. They were extremely helpful, easier than trying to deal with Swift!!!!!!!

if it isnt working on any source it isnt the thermostat, it may well be the absorption unit, some recommend taking the fridge out, turning it upside down, leave it for a few hours, turn back the right way up leave it again for a rew hours and try it on mains, if it dont work, its goosed!!!!! too expensive to repair, absorption units(unlike household fridges) cant be regassed.
The above often works if the 'gasses' inside have separated, however, turn it over and over waiting just 10 seconds in between and after several goes you can fire it straight up.
Total waste of time leaving any longer between turns or before you switch it on!
The previous fridge in my camper didn't work. I had nothing to lose, and so I tried turning it upside down. Left for half an hour while I had a cup of tea. Turned back the right way and left for another half an hour to settle, then it started more or less straight away. Takes time for the gas bit to light if it hasn't been used for a while. I think it took around 5-10 minutes with mine the first time. After a while of using, it only took less than a minute to fire up on gas. However it was only a 2 way, never used it on 12v only on gas.
When its on can you feel heat coming out of the exterior vent after 30mins or so?
Mine struggles in hot weather to cool down, the main problem was that the heat was not escaping out of the vent, to the extent that the draining board above got hot, I have fitted a cowl to direct the heat out and also fitted a 12v twin computer fan from maplin to extract the hot air, this is strapped to the fins on the back of the fridge.
It now works much much better than before, we even got cool beer in the med this year!
Good idea Sproz mines pretty much the same and if i leave hot water in the metal sink it rarley cools down(goes cold) due to the heat from the fridge over time heating the sink.
as for temps of fridge mine was rubbish until i done the turn over and over trick it soon got cold just afterwards and once used on gas was fine
