The water heating element on my ultrastore 2 has failed.

I have confirmed that it is the actual element with the aid of a digital voltmeter.

I am electrically competent to carry out this work, but I wondered, before I start, has anyone else changed a (450W) element and are there any pitfalls to avoid?

Many thanks

Paul

Hi Paul, it's a straight forward job, make sure the power supply is isolated, open up the star shaped pressing aroun the element, remove the locking nuts that secure the  element, make sure when you remove it that you get the rubber seal out, refit in reverse making sure you get the rubber seal in the correct position (always use the new one provided), This is the important bit DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the lock nuts, to tight and you will snap of the captive bolt, (you don't want to be doing that), remake  the electrical connections and test.

I found that ours was easy to replace because it is positioned where it is easy to get at without removing the heater or re-arranging loads of things. I hope yours is too. As Metz said, it isn't a difficult job to do. The cover on some of the heaters do not have the star shape cut out and you will have to cut it yourself as neatly as you can!! Good Luck with your repair.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I was just a bit worried in case there was a pitfall lurking that I hadn't thought of. Coincidence? - I just noticed Metz's outfit - mine is an Adventura as well!

I shall now tackle the job with more confidence.

Thanks again.
