hi everybody ,i want to wish you all a happy new year .i got an estimate of £150 for awning and front rail re seal does this seem expensive .not able to do it myself or i would ,derby area thanks
It depends on the size of the rails and the condition of the screws etc. If the screws are rusting it can take ages to get them out so £150 would not seem excessive.

we have been quoted £135 per section and there are 4 sections on ours, are they removing them and resealing or are they just going over the joints with a sealant gun? If its removing give me the phone number as we only live in Chesterfield
if they are going to remove the rail (which takes ages) and clean off the old mastic fromhe van and awning rail, then i think that that is a very reasonable price. It took me 8hours to do my awning rail which is in 2 sections, and i dont think there is any quick ways of doing it, unless a dealer has more powerfull chemicals for removing the old mastic more easier.
i think its a good price it took us days to redo all of ours loads of the screws were rusted in and it took loads of mand power and hours to remove them its a dirty jon removong that mastic and very tricky putting awning rail back up with new mastic ,so yes i would have gladly apid that to have the job done,if its judt running round the rails with silicone or sealant i would tell them to get on their bike
you have to get the trim out to expose the screws then get the screws out without damageing heads, then you have to get the screws out if any that have snapped then you have to remove rail without bending and kinking then clean both rail and caravan where rail sits of old substance then you have to clean cleaning substance away with another substance in order to get new mastic to stick.then you have to put it all back on without the bending and kinking and get each screw back in its original hole.
for £150 to me that sounds a good deal considering its something you carnt do anyway.
£150 against the cost of a damp caravan does sound very cheap so do check there not just running a line of new mastick around the edge to fill anygaps( ive seen this done many times and within a short time the new mastick has picked up so much road dirt it looks a mess and when you clean the dirt away.... you take off the new mastic
