My van is due for a service and I was wondering if anyone in this area could give me their views on places they have used.
I guess my worry is, this like taking your car to a garage to be serviced, until you find one you trust, it always a bit of a gamble and I believe it is fair to say we all will have been done by a car garage some time in our life’s and I suppose I am trying to avoid this experience with my first ever caravan service.
And before I get hit with abuse, I am not saying that the caravan servicers in this area are bad they may all be great, I am just asking for a bit of help and a recommendation if anyone would like to give one.
I have rung around and got some prices for a single axel caravan and there is about £50 between them all, ironically the dealer I purchased the van from 18 months ago being the most expensive.
My van is 6yrs old so there are no warranty issues to worry about.
Don't always go for the cheapest because not all are thorough in what is entailed in the service. I have just paid £50 more than a couple of other quotes and the reason is that they always take off the road wheels and brake drums and do a full inspection to see if any parts are worn and need replacing. Others will provide a cheaper quote but all they do is set the brakes on the caravan without any inspection. Time is money to them but it is justified if you know that a proper inspection has been conducted and is also peace of mind regarding safety. A chap named Phil who comes on the UK campsite website lives in Bridlington and he may be able to point you in the right direction as where to take your caravan for servicing.
Yorkshire Coast Caravans at Beeford. Its an Approved Workshop, its prices are on a notice in the office so they are open about cost. You do need to book well in advance as they are often quite busy. I have nothing but praise for the way the company deals with us and our van.

Thanks Phil,
it was a toss up between them or Fry's at Hutton Cranswick (they are next door to where I store my van) they both quoted the same price
Thanks for your advice

Mmm My van is in there as well.......small world. I have found that you may need to book anything up to six weeks in advance as they seem to have plenty of work on. Once I had a problem with my van and I phoned them from a site and they just asked me to call in on my way home with the van and they fixed the problem in their lunch break on the forecourt...and no charge. Very helpful folks.
