hoping desperately that someone will be able to help me! was told yesterday at the service centre that my elddis typhoon 94 is beyond repair/ would cost around 2 thousand pounds to fix and therefore not worth it for its age. At that point i broke down in tears as we have only had it a year and a half and actually bought it from the same man who serviced it for us( in the same condition). Thank god i found this website :) a bit of hope at last. We now have a joiner planned to rip away the rotton front end of the roof. now i am worried about, sealants, making sure we dont make it worse than it is and where do even get this stuff from?? i know i am going to need the interior ceiling paper replaced however when ive searched online i cant find any! does anyone know where we can get this from??
The sealant to use is Sikaflex 512, which is polyurethane sealant/adhesive designed for use in caravans. If you are working outdoors this time of yr, bear in mind that it should not be used in temps below 10degC.
Search it online you should find it for around £8/cartridge. It sounds as if you will need several.
The ceiling paper is in fact not paper but coated board used for caravan interiors. The paper peels off the board when it gets damp. You can buy the coated board, somebody may supply a link.
thank you tentz :) ill get onto it now -great tip about the board! no wonder i wasnt having any luck. if anyone knows a website or buisness could you let me know pls? xx
Do have a look at the Fixed it Club members website links and see just what can be repaired . If you have questions post them on this site . Rather than add them to this post , start a new one . Good luck and keep the questions coming .
There is a vinyl type wallpaper that you can get but I cannot remember the trade name. Comes in a roll about 1m wide and you need a special paste to put it on with. Used it to cover bulkheads and shower area of Yachts so should do a caravan roof. Got mine from Fred Williamson, Painter & Decorators Merchants, Roker Ave, Sunderland.
If it's faced plywood you are after try F.H Thomson on Green Lane at Felling.
