just a curious question iv been wondering about...

why do all the damp meters have thick pins?

why dont they have needle type pins so you wont see the holes in the wallboards easily?

cheers rob

We just sharpened them on ours so as not to leave bad marks. A friend advised us to do it

If you have some pin holes to cover, smearer a very small amount of decorators filler over the hole than wipe clean with a damp cloth (fexible decorators filler that comes in a sealant tube emulsion based)

so was just curious to why they have to be so thick (thinking of soldering a couple of sewing needles to them)

our local caravan man has  a damp meter without pins...it just lays against the wall...I think  it is twice the price of the pin ones.

Hi all-1st time user here.what make meter do you have?you only have to slightlly pierce the wall board to get accurate readings.we are trained to pierce in least obvious places as poss.ie lift window seals and check there(take care rubber not in contact with needles as will give you false readings)-serviced a van last week that had been done by stuart longtons from new-5yr old-was horrified by the pin pricks everywhere.common sence and care is all thats needed.
