I have just checked my caravan after the winter and found a damp patch. It only eems to be quite mall and I have romoved the damp and rotten peice of board this has left a hole about 12 inches across by 3 inches high, I have viewed the web sites and found them useful, but I am unsure if I need to strip the entire back of the caravan down as the dam seems to be only in one small area close to the right hand rear side, just above the seat. I have left the caravan drying out for now, one of the wooden spars that runs accross the back is a bit crumbly close to the upright spar in the corner of the caravan. The upright spar is damp but does not crumble. Could someone please advise me as to how much further I need to go. The caravan was bought in October last year and has never been used yet, it did not cost much so do not believe it would be worth while spending a fortune.

your best to ask wizard he knows the answers to lots of damp questions and can tell by photos you post of the damage so you might be best to tske some photos,hope its not a big job for you good luck with your repair

It is damp because water is getting in some how, your right to start drying out the van , but the priority is to stop any further water getting in.
Using a damp meter with help you establish the extent of the damage and hopefully pinpoint where the water is coming in.

some pictures would give an idea as to where the leak is coming from
