EASY REPLACEMENT FOR PLASTIC BUNGS
With regard to the plastic bungs in the windows. Pound World are selling Superglue 'Tool Box' 3 for a pound. The clear plastic caps on each pot of glue will replace the bungs. First cut them of their plastic thin strip. The cap is just a little loose in the caravan window hole. This can be fixed by cutting the cap in half with a sharp knife. Push the solid end into the round circular piece, this will expand it. Then push the now expanded cap into the window hole. Don't push too hard or it will disappear into the window. If you still have the outer part of the original bung in the window the solid half of a cap will fit in perfectly. The superglue doesn't even run out until you pierce the end so this is mega cheap.

it is not unusual for windows to mist up on the first few days of hot weather, but they should clear after a short period. IF the condensation / misting is so bad as to cause water runs then there is a possibility that the windows have delaminated , Ie the inner & outer panels are coming apart. This IS a known fault on some windows & the manufacturers were replacing them free of charge (see your dealer)

re- PLASTIC BUNGS,

I managed to chew a couple up removing them on my windows, I contacted these nice people at Myriad Products near Burton on Trent, they were kind enough to send me a few totally free of charge. What great service.

I had a look at that link about why windows mist. "The water goes through the poly carbonate" has to be the best April Fools I heard for a while.

The "bungs" are actually breathers, to allow the pressure between the polycarb sheets to equalise, otherwise the seams will eventually crack. Do not block them up completely or you will shorten the life of the window.

The condensation comes from moist air (from the occupants respiration) being drawn in at night when the window cools. Front windows also get squished slightly when towing.

If the water came through the poly carbonate the plastic itself would become opaque.

Condensation in a single window could be a sign of a cracked seam. Condensation is several windows might indicate poor ventilation or a damp problem. Then again sometimes they just mist up.

Hi, I had this problem, window DE-laminated and repaired successfully with the special glue but it is impossible to seal as it would have been when new.
I tried replacing the bugs with no luck, this year got very bad. I ended up removing the bugs, drilling 3 small holes from the inside at the bottom and covering all 5 holes with breathable tape, the stuff you use for on the edges of poly-carbonate roof panels. Within a few days of sun the mist has gone and has stayed that way ever since.

But how nobody tells you how to get the pesky little blighter's out without breaking them or part of it falling back inside. It maybe ok with a new window but when they are several years old they have gone hard. Some of these plugs have a little pip sticking up in the middle. If so, grasp this with a pair of needle nose pliers, gripping as much of it possible. Pull on the pip slightly to one side, and prise the opposite edge, and so on, gradually working it out. You can get them out without breaking this way. Newer ones are of a softer material and seal better

one things to mention...dont use car polish or house window cleaner on acrylic windows..They effectively seal the surface and prevent any moisture absorbed by the window material from being released...yes I know this sounds daft but I got this info a few years back from a boat / motorhome builder...

I always used car polish on my windows and hey presto they seemed to fog up each day as the temperature dropped....

I now use Autoglym FAST GLASS polish - contains no silicone and is made specially for acrylic windows / soft top windows and motorcycle screens etc.

No more fogging up !! :)

Our Lunar caravan had to have new front windows due to distortion. They also had to be checked that they have a small hole/valve to prevent condensation.
