Is it possible to have the pressure set too high on the whale switch? The switch was making a loud clicking noise when the kitchen tap was switched off, so I adjusted it till it stopped. A few hours later i noticed the carpet was wet at the edge of one of the seats. Looked under the cushion to see water tricking from the joint and noticed the pump was still running after the tap was turned off. I twisted it a bit more and the pump went off and the water stopped coming out of the switch joint.
All dry now apart from the carpet! We bought the van off a private dealer with no warranty, but the van is very dry and is in otherwise great condition. Took it out for the first time this weekend (we are currently in the lake district!) and have just fixed a leak in the bathroom due to a broken seal on the tap and now this!
if its a pressurized system and you have a leak the pump will keep on running. just possible you have turned off the pressure switch and stopped water running from a split in the pipe so double check. to set the pressure switch turn it fully clockwise home, open a tap near by fully.turn the pressure switch very slowly anti clockwise until you have a good flow and the switch has just started clicking.turn tap off and the clicking should stop.if not have another go.
CLOCKS FORWARD PLEASE EVERYONE.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Thanks for the reply, adjusted the switch like you said and the water is running fine with no clicking at all, and the pump switches off straight away. I just couldn't understand why the pressure switch had water spraying out of it but after fiddling with the dial it stopped. I thought maybe the pressure was set too high.
This is the first weekend out with the van, and its been a very stressful one!

sounds like a faulty pressure switch as no water should leave it at any time.might be ok but keep an eye on it.

Sounds like you have a problem with the pressure switch unit , as michael says , it shouldn't leak , even if the pump was running with the taps turned off . Saying this in a nice way , you either need to find out why it's leaking or replace the unit . You could leave till the end of your hols , but keep a close watch on it till then and turn your pump off when not using it .
well we got back yesterday and not a drop of water anywhere for 2 days, so not sure what happened there. have just bought another switch off ebay just in case :)
Sorry to sound thick but where is the water pressure switch ??
We have just bought a buccaneer schooner 2004 model and the pump won't stop pumping when we put it on so have read the above and am now assuming its this pressure switch but don't know where to find it to make an adjustment. Can anyone help please ?
Hi landy, the pressure switch is usually located where the water pump comes in through the wall of the van..under the seats. If the pump is still running u might have a leak, the fav is the hot water drainage screw on the outside of the van....where u drain the system. The water pressure switch looks like this
This too may be faulty as it has a diaphram inside of it..
Thankyou so much for a speedy reply. Think it will be a phone call to White Arches in the morning where we bought it from to get their help as at the moment nothing we do will cure the problem
Hoping to get this sorted asap as we have booked our first trip out leaving on Monday.
Found this very useful today. My pump was running on after turning taps off and I had no knowledge of these systems being a newby. Very easy fix following your adjustment instructions. Thanks.
