I have an Abi Piper 1400L. It used to have a little crack over one latch until 1 night some scroat pulled the bottom, broke the window right from bottom to top, climbed in and wiped out the contents. I have tried searching the web for 2 months for a new window and fell over your site. Does anyone out there know where I can get a replacement window? Anyone breaking that model? Does anyone know if I can get mine glued or repaired? Please, please help! We have never been in the caravan yet and my kids were really excited to go in it. Thanks from Sue x

I have found the website suggested by wizard and posted an ad so keep your fingers crossed for me. I tried eeco ages ago but I have to post my existing window off and wait 10 days with a hole in my van! Maybe not such a good idea?!
Any more suggestions will be very gratefully received x

Hi Sue, I believe that you have already asked this question once but haven't replied to the question I asked.

The question you asked was........ As I am having trouble finding a new window for my Abbey Piper 1400L, I was wondering if anyone has glued a plastic window before? Which glue do you recommend and would some clear silicone sealant on both sides be a good idea after glueing? Am I just being silly/ desperate?

If the caravan was broken in to wouldn't it be better to put it through an insurance claim?

Hi Sue,

I would agree with Lion 123 - I live a couple of miles form the company he mentioned & I know they have hundreds (if not a thousand or so) windows in stock - have seen them!!

Really helpful - they will tell you exactly what to measure, & what info they need in addition to measurements (roxite number comes to mind (relates to the colour)) & will let you know if they have it in stock & send it by courier - no gaping hole in your caravan whilst you wait!!

www.caravanbreakers.net

Even better news, shouldn't cost you anywhere near the £500 mentioned on your other thread!!

Hope that helps

Amanda

Insurance would have been a good idea, but as it has been sat on my drive since buying it from a man around the corner who pushed it over here, I haven't bought any insurance. I was going to sort that out once I was ready to go 'playing out'. One day I WILL start learning from past mistakes!!

in responce of glueing windows. yes it can be done!!!! how good it looks after is down to you.

i removed the inner perspex by simply snapping it off all the way around and cleaned it up with a very sharpe chisel,to remove any left overs then a quick wipe over with thinnners (very carful ot to spill it anywhee not needed) this was to remove glue.

i then cut a peice of perspex the same size (at some point i had to remove cathes) and used polypipe glue (plenty of it) clamped the new inner to old outer and worked fine took about a week to fully dry and as it did the glue became invisible.

yes on close inspection you can tell its been glued but from 10 ft away its perfect, no leaks no condensation and a hidden crack too

Some of the other windows on the caravan are double glazed but as this one is so big it is only single glazed. Check out the photo on my profile. I will keep your tip in mind as I am sure my autistic son will forget and stick his hand, toy, fork etc through one of the double glazed ones as soon as we start to use the caravan!!
