It seems all Freedom caravans suffer failure of ceiling/wall lining by sagging. Strip it all out (well all that you can see) . Big job but worth the effort.

Lining carpet by Coverdale is perfect. They sell it in 10 m lengths and it is 2m wide-just right. Takes 5 cans spray adhesive (high temp trim fix) Cost delivered £120. Enough left to fit new floor. Take your time, wear a solvent proof mask and do it it in small sections-adhesive is almost instant grab, not much chance for manipulation.
About 50 hours whole job.You have to remove most interior fittings doors etc. Hence the time. Clean old adhesive off with Meths and sandpaper.

Do it but go easy. Need very sharp scissors and Stanley knife.solvent proof mask

I managed to do the lining of my last Freedom Microlite.
It took me literally 2-3 days to remove all the lining and replace.
I went to my local carpet shop and purchased some light weight corded (contract) and fire retardant carpet 5m x 4m cost me about £45 plus 6 cans of adhesive.
I put some extra bracing in so I could attach a tv bracket and switched extension socket.
Hopefully I can load a couple of photos.

The extra bracing is a good idea. For a little weight (negligible) a big gain. More work beckons........

Adds very little weight and it meant I could mount the TV bracket securely. I bought 2 tv brackets and when I don't use the tv in the caravan I just lift it out and put it in the spare bedroom (other bracket)and use it mainly as a computer monitor.Simples

Hello all, sorry to drag up an old thread but was wondering if anyone could help.

We have a freedom jetstream caravan which I have stripped out due to the sagging headlining.

I am looking to re-line with the grey automotive style carpet like above. I still have the old glue on most of the panels. I don't wish to remove the glue first as there is a lot of it and was wondering if anyone has just used new adhesive straight on top of the old glue with success?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks, Tony.

Hello Tony, the glue is a pain to take off. I used a wire type drill bit and that did a good job but I think a heavy duty spray adhesive would probably be ok to use over the original glue. Buy the spray glue of ebay as it is a lot cheaper.
