Hi y'all,

We're new to the forum and new to caravans and may be purchasing our first one this weekend. We are going to look at an ABI Nightstar 5 berth and are wondering if parts are still available for this model of van? I believe Swift bought out ABI some years ago. Its a 1990-91 model and is in good condition but needs a wheel arch cover and a lock for the exterior stowage bin. I just want to be sure that parts are still easily available for this model of van.

Any help or advice would very much appreciated.

Andy & Tina...

Hi There.

We have a 1995 ABI jubilee, we have had no problems getting parts mainly from breakers or ebay.

Useful link below for breakers

Cheers

Thanks Amanda,

Thats reassuring to know and thanks for the link. Are they decent caravans for towing? We have a Vauxhall Astra Estate 17 CDTi 2005 with built in detachable towbar.

Thanks.

Hiya Andy and Tina

We have a 1990 ABI Globestar she is a lovely van great to tow and in lovely condition I'm sure you will find your Nightstar just the same. We have found any little fixtures easy enough to source at caravan dealers for example this weekend we replaced the rooflight and found the correct matching spare at our local caravan shop.

For Towing take a look at what towcars website outfit matching, they arent heavy vans so you should be ok but I would check first.

Hope you have great fun in your van

Dawn

Yes there are very good for towing, our van has an ALKO hitch with a inbuilt stabiliser, I think this helps a little. The first thing we did when we got our caravan was put new tyres on it. We got commercial tyres which from what I understand have stronger walls and help with towing. even though the last owner assured us the tyres had only done 600 miles it was worth the peace of mind.

Hi Andy and Tina. Ours is a 1992 Sunstar. I don't know about things like body panels, but would assume they are available from the breakers. Most other parts are still readily available either from caravan dealers or from Ebay. I have found most of the interior fittings are pretty standard and easy to source. Unless you are committed to having it in showroom condition, items like the cupboard clips and hinges and the like are easy to find at most dealers.

With all the interest there seems to be in these caravans at the moment, maybe we should launch a ". . . star club".

Pete
