We got our first caravan just this weekend, thought we got a right deal. Its a 1991 fleetwood 5 berth, ideal for our family of five. Got told by previous owner was damp free ,no leaks ect. just a bit of wear and tear. When viewing we checked for these just in case, could not find anything, however we are novice when it comes to caravans and didnt really know what we were looking for. The van looks clean and tidy. Under closer inspection once we have already got it home i have started to notice a few problems. Damp around the rear window, it was hidden as bunk bed was up. also inside one of the cuboards there is softness, not only this but in the toilet/shower there is a new lino on the wall, i have no idea if this is reason for concern. Everything else is great working order. I would like to know from someone who has more understanding about caravans what to do. I am willing top solve these problems, but dont know how to. or would i be just wasting my time. Ive already fallen in love with this van SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

Hi Niciward14 , welcome to UKCS , unfortunately soft wall board means there's damp under the wall board covering , have a look here http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/favorites.htm to see what the Fixed it Club members have managed to repair .
If possible post some pictures of your damp area's on here or email them to me ( email link below ) .
Caravan damp repairs can be very labour intensive , but you'll save a fortune if you do them yourself .
It is heart breaking to see the damp, when you start stripping the damp wood out , but don't give up hope , once it's been removed things will begin to look better and it won't be long before your resealing / rebuilding .

Do ask lots of questions as you go , i'm sure The Fixed it Club members will be happy to advise you .

As said above, once you start pulling wallboards down you'll realise how simple the construction is.

I am doing the same thing and blogging it too
