I'm posting this on behalf of my father in law who doesn't have Internet access. In 2008 he purchased a new Eriba Touring GT.

In late 2010, about 3 months after the expiry of the warranty, he noticed a line of corrosion along the bottom of the of the gas locker door. The unit is stored under a breathable cover and has never been on the road at a time of year when salt contamination could occur. The corrosion looks to us very like electrolytic damage caused by a reaction between two different metals

The Eriba dealership in Gloucestershire, and the Hymer / Eriba HQ in Germany have both been contacted, and have proved singularly unhelpful, citing the expiry of the warrenty, and the possibility of stone/chip salt damage as possible causes beyond their control. They have also indicated that they require evidence of a post warranty 'Water ingress test' before even considering making a good will payment towards the cost of repair.

I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has experienced corrosion problems of this nature , and of course any tips you might have for dealing with Eriba customer services and/or repair.

Ian

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
