My advice would be do a proper job , you've put all the effort in to repair it , may as well finish it off nice . Most plywood is 3.6mm thick , where as wallboard is 3mm thick and you should be able to cut it with a stanly knife . Ask the place where your going to buy it if they have any off cuts , they might be quite a bit cheaper . Also have a check on ebay for wall board . http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/wall-boards.htm
