I have a lock which is stuck on the gas locker (camper). It is a barrel type. I have pretty much filled it up with WD40 and left it a few days. No joy.

Before I drill it out I had a look on ebay and see there is such a thing as a removal tool available with replacement locks or on their own. How do these work and are they lock specific? I do not know what lock it is but the camper is rollerteam dated 2001, and the key grip does not conform to any of the 3 or 4 types listed on ebay.

Idealy I want to reuse this lock as all the other locks match so it wouold mean a new set of keys to worry about

Any ideas as to how to solve this welcome

could there be something behind the lock stopping it opening? i had this once it was a pig to get open.a rubber shoe had fell down onto the lock.

Unscrewing from the back was not what I wanted to hear!
Yes I think there is too much in the locker and thinking along the same lines as you we have tried a couple of outings to see if it will shift the load.

Anybody know if the tool works through front access?

why not drill a small hole in the floor near the lock and avoiding gas pipes and fittings,this way you can push a stick or long screwdriver through and move whatever is blocking the lock?? worth a try..

I had what Michael said on my Bailey, the firebucket fell and blocked the lock. thankfully I could from underneath the locker see a gap in the base of the locker ehich allowed me to push the offending blockage up with a garden cane.

Be careful when using WD40. It is paraffin based and any steel components that it comes into contact with will rust unless you clean them and apply oil or grease.

Thanks for the suggestions. Just to update you. The through the bottom didnt work. We had to drill a large enough hole from the top to get a hand in. The offending article was a tool bag weighing about 5kg!

Didnt know that about WD40, thought it was fish oil, so will revit with 3 in 1. Thanks

Still be interested to hear about the barrel lock removal tool though.

Never heard of that Bernie and im surprised Michael hasnt said something as he seems to be a big fan of the stuff.It does contain Hexane which is similar to paraffin ( kerosene )but it can be used for garden tools and shovels to Stop them rusting..well so it says on the tin ?
