We regularly go away with no EHU for a week plus at a time. Many probably won't agree with this but as we go out in the car every day, I run off the car battery in the evening (monitoring it regularly and being very careful), then if necessary run off the van battery in the morning and when out during the day.

Car batt gets topped up when out and about, run a TV via an inverter for about and hour morning and night, also use shower etc, and never had a problem.

Don't tend to use halogens though, and always around this time of year when lighting needs are lower.

No solar backup or anything. Car is a 1 year old Santa Fe so big battery in good condition as well.

I've seen a couple of solar panels for sale but they are advertised as '24v'?

How can a solar panel be a nominated voltage ie 12v or 24v. Surely it is down to the controller/regulator and the battery that you conect it up to................isn't it?
