Tow it for about a hour & then feel the pipes in't freezer compartment, they should feel cold.

Thanks for your replies
Macaw. I know what yours saying re not being electrician but running a line from battery to pin 6 on the 12s plug is within my capabilities. Just didn’t understand why I needed a relay. I wouldn’t dream of messing about with the electrics more than that. As I said I just want to make sure that while I’m travelling my fridge is working. We will be 2 days travelling and when we have our overnight stops it will be on elec or gas.
Tentz. What I will do is connect my car to the van while at home and check very 15/20 mins to see if there’s any change in the pipes if there is I’m sorted. . If I feed a line from the battery the car will not need to be running. If I have problems starting the car afterwards I can jump start from my other car.
The reason I don’t just pay for a auto electrician to come and sort it out is we nearly had to cancel the hols due to cost and other complications but decided to go and save money were possible.
Cheers Richard

you can but a cheap temperature gauge (£3) for testing after running on the engine for thirty minutes check the temperature, the other way is to feel the top vent when in use it should give off warm air. setting must be at 7 for the coldest.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
