We've just replumbed our old Sprite Musketeer- cold water only - with blue water pipes, we've sterilised them with puriclean and run water through but the water still tastes of plastic even when boiled. Does anyone know if there's something we can run through to get rid of the taste or will we just have to give it time?
Give it time , when i changed my pipes on my old Sprite for new ones it took ages for the taste to go , what we did for a while was took water with us in plastic bottles and did some times buy bottled water when away .
What did you use to seperate the kitchen supply from the bathroom supply at the water pump. The reason i ask is i also have a 1982 sprite musketeer and some body has disconected the bathroom water. on closer inspection it looks like it was disconected because both taps opperate at the same time. There is nothing to control the flow of water and with it bee an old van there is no micro switch on the taps. I have looked around for other tap designs but am unable to find anything that would fit as the tap in the kitchen area is a fold away tap the connects to the side of the sink instead of the top. Next to my pump there is just a plastic T jnuction with 2 tubes. 1 running to the kitchen and the other to the bathroom. If i reconected the bathroom tap and turned it on then both taps would opperate
Hi Wizard. Yeah in the bathroom there is a tap to turn on the water but in the kitchen there is nothing. So if i turn on the tap in the bathroom the kitchen tap springs into life also. The kitchen tap is opperated by a foot pedal linked to the water pump
Yes i have one of those to pime it then i have a small pedal to press that is connected to a small electric pump. From the pump is 1 pipe that is then divided into 2 by a T shaped tube conector.
Only thing i can think of is , does the kitchen tap shut off when it's folded down . On mine there was a knob on the front of the kitchen unit that controlled the flow .
Hmm not sure about that wizard. I will have to try it next time i am over at the van. If it does then that will solve the problem and i will be able to re connect the bathroom tap. There is definatly nothing to control the flow on the front of the unit. If i cant find a way to control the flow i will just have to leave the bathroom tap disconected.
My hubby done the plumbing and he just followed the existing pipes, I think it was just a t junction to seperate the bathroom/kitchen pipes. Both taps had micro-switches and we've no foot pump.
