Hi there
We have just purchased a Avondale Grampian XL 1993 even though we knew we had a repair job to do on it. I shall be looking in more detail on the wizards website when i start the damp wall removal stage in the coming days. Just wanted a quick heads up to get started - i,m going to plump for sikaflex edt for all sealing purposes and is standard no nails suitable for the fixing of replacement timbers or is something else more suitable.
Just wanting to get some materials ordered today so i can get started :)
also will be questions regarding electrics to follow lol - is there somewhere more suitable to start a thread with pics as the work develops where i can still get the help from members and fix it clubbers ?
many thanks
Paul
Have a look at Fix All Here for sticking your timbers or Tigerseal , and also Tigerseal , or any Polyurethane adhesive / sealant for resealing your awning rails .
OMG !!! Taken the top off (wallpaper look), the wood is like tissue paper. Trying to scrape it from the polystyrene without damaging it. There is a beam half way down running accross , that is wet. The polystyrene feels like no-nailed or something onto the outer panel so having to go steady. Any way of getting this very thin tissue like wood from the polystyrene quicker?, this is a job that might take a while....OR, could I dry it out with hairdryer, which seems to be working, before moving on to next stage of finding out where it is coming in. The panel is dryer at the top than at the bottom, does that mean maybe it isn't coming in at the top ? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Any way of getting this very thin tissue like wood from the polystyrene quicker? use a wallpaper scraper . Once you end up with wafer thin bit's that are dry and well stuck you can probably leave them .
The panel is dryer at the top than at the bottom, does that mean maybe it isn't coming in at the top ? maybe , is there a window above where the damp area is ? It's possible that the water is running down between the alloy panel and the polystyrene and then tracking across when it gets to the batten .
ALSO, looks like it may be the front left window too check the window seals and the window hanger .
Well, you seem to have a caravan like ours. Once you get your head around things it is not as bad as you think, do not despier, the more you look the more damp you will find, but heyho, you are moving forward all the time, and you will be see the results of your work soon.
