My folks have a Sprite finesse with a dometic fridge (model not know) It works fine on gas and 230v.However when it's hooked up to the car with the engine running it refuses to stay switched to 12v, It's actually switching on and off, We've tried revving the engine on the car which seemed to switch the fridge to 12v temporarily but now it refuses to work.
I've tested the alternator output at 14.1v which i thought to be adequate to flick the van relay over to 12v does anybody have any ideas?

imho some require low revs and some relays require high revs depends on what the relay is set at.try it at about 3000 revs. see if the switch lights up. check pin 6 when running if ok then the plug could be at fault.

12S Supplementary Socket
1) Reverse
2) Battery Charge **
3) Earth
4) Power feed
5) Spare
6) Fridge **
7) Earth for pin 6 (1998 on

Assuming you have one, it sounds like the split charge relay in the car may just need a tweek
