Hi all

Having inherited a couple of Eurovent awnings (one full and one porch) with my s/h Avondale Avocet, I have found that some of the peg down straps have rotted and need replacing.

The general condition of the awnings is pretty good so I was hoping there was an easy "do it yourself" solution to repairing these.

I have seen some adverts for "clamp on" peg down clips such as kwik klips or clingons (see links)

http://www.clingons.co.uk/About.html

http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-1428744-10475506?url=http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Kwik_Klip_-_Bungee_Style.html

. . . would these work?

Any other suggestions?

thanks

Phil

I use something like this ring.
Just loop then back through themselves through the exsting cloth or plastic ring.

Or there is these anchors.

Supplier is for examples only not a recommendation.

Hi bluegriifin, is the strap itself that is sewn to the canvas that is rotted away and that you want to sew new ones on and not just the rubber stretch straps that the pegs go through.

Hi

Yes it is the strap itself that has rotted . . . I assume that at some point they have got damp and not dried out before packing away.

. . . the fabric of the awning all seems good so I suppose new straps could be sewn in but would think this would need a fairly hefty machine to do a good job!

thanks

Phil

Find someone with an old black Singer straight stitch sewing machine, it will handle the job easily

Same thing happened to our awning this year. I just used clingons and they work brill, infact our caravan is on a season pitch and the awning has been up since may.

I would highly recommend them.

give them a try.

We are a family run business that repairs and extends awnings. The tapes rotting on the eurovents is a common problem but can be replaced easily. If you wish to contact for further information please ring on 07787354923 or refer to my website.

clingons look like the easiest option.
