This is not exactly a repair, i have bought 4 large plastic corner mounts for holding my solar panel on the roof, as they are plastic i thought i would not just glue them in place as is sugested in mant articles but also screw them to the roof for several reasons, in my mind it would be a better fixing but also as my roof floats about a little ( the aluminium that is) my question is how do i find good fixing points to screw the corners down.

Rather than put holes in your roof I would use   CT 1 its similar to silicone and sticks like the proverbial to a blanket. it is a tad expensive but can be used for lots of jobs and can even be used when materials are wet.

Hi i had already bought the glue sikaflex 221this is what the industry use, the problem was that the aluminium roof skin flops around, i wanted to secure it a little better, anyway job done now i just worked out that if it was near the edge and near roof vents that i would get some sort of fixing, and i did. it has worked out really well and looks pritty good, i ran all the cables through the roof down the cupboards and behind the heater then under the floor and up under the bed to the controler. i have been using this panel for a few months and it was a bit of a pain moving it about, well now theres nothing to think about it just works. my next project is to run my fridge from the 12 volt during the day and then on gas at night, If you are interested have a look at my other posts.

Thanks for your interest

Run the fridge on solar power? How big is the panel? My fridge has a 120watt element in for the 12 volt side. If you are hoping to keep the battery topped up and run the fridge on solar power in the British sunlight, you'll need to cover the caravan in solar panels.
