Hi Folks,

The tyres on my newly purchased Ace Award Tristar 2004 are original and out of date apparently. I've been told they should be changed every 5 years???

I was actually thinking of purchasing some new Alloys for the van anyway and so can combine new tyres with Alloys at the same time.

First question - can I go a size or two bigger (ie more alloy, less tyre wall depth) with the Alloys than the present Steel rims without messing with the handling/ride?

Will fitting Alloys help me in my quest to get an AL-KO or BPW wheel clamp for lowering my Caravan Club insurance premium and helping me sleep at night?

I get the Van on Tuesday - so can't tell you what wheel size/PCD/bolt config. etc the original steel rims are yet.

Your help would be appreciated.

Yours - don't know much about Caravaning yet. It's my first.

John.

If you put bigger wheels on you might restrict the ride height when the van is loaded also the clearance inside the wheel arch.
               Well come to the site..

Thanks fella. I kind of meant bigger alloys but less rubber so same overall wheel diameter. Nothing silly like you see down Asda car park with the boy racers, just a little bigger.
