Hi all new to the site so id like to say a BIG HELLO.
Just wondering if anyone can help me please. I dont seem to be getting anypower via the green and white connections to the battery. All the 12v works fine, lights etc but the
battery doesnt charge. If i have too many lights on, the zig unit cuts out. Fitting a leisure battery makes no difference. Any ideas? Few questions if you dont mind,
1) How does the zig unit work?
2) Does the car also charge the battery when hooked up?
3) Should there be power on the wires to the battery?
We have the same year van.
The green & White wires at the battery should have 13.5ish volts from the zig unit to charge the battery. The zig unit takes 240 volts ac & drops it to 12 volts dc to charge the leisure battery & run 12v lights etc.
Make sure your main switch is set for mains hookup
Make sure the green/White wires are not touching if your battery is missing.
The car will charge the battery if you have a split charger through the 12s socket and the main switch is set to the car symbol
Hope this helps
CBS2 the weird thing is the light etc all work yet no power to the battery. Ill do some futher testing tomorrow. How would i know if i have split charging? We do have the car symbol.
If your layout matches mine, the battery holder under the front seat has two wires going to it to charge the battery. These come from the zig unit under the kitchen unit. Make sure it's switched on. Check the wires next to the battery holder. On mine there is a connector block on the floor. This might be corroded. Are you sure it's your 12v lights that are on & not your 240 volt ones?
The split charging will be on your car. You either have just a black socket for your lights or a black socket & a grey socket next to it. The charging comes from the grey 12s socket
------------- I'm not strange. It's just that everybody else is a bit different, that's all
the age of the van may suggest there is a fuse inside the charger itself, possible 10 amp or 15 amp,or check for a 10 or 15 amp fuse elsewhere in the fuse boxes.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
yes have known them to be inside the zig itself.which zig is it as someone could have the paperwork for it? contact wizard hes a good source of manuals. ask here too
So there may be a fuse in the zig itself? There's no power at the back of it? Green and blue wire labelled van battery chg
All the other 12v stuff is working.
It's a s4cs or summit like that I'll check tomoz.
Cheers for the concern mate. I'm pretty handy with elecs so should be fine.
Once I sort this prob out, will I have to fit a split charge relay in the van? My car electrics are aftermarket 13pin type with an adapter to 12n/s. car is an 07 zaffira Vxr. Or will the relay have already been fitted to the car?
Update, Took the panel out of the van tonight and set it up on a rig so i could test it.
Opened her up and found a lead broken off the caravan/car rocker switch, Remade the joint and i now have 14.7v at the caravan battery outlet terminal Happy Days.
Just trying to understand how the panel works now. From what i can see, the van Battery and the Car Charge terminals are basically wired together internally.
Am I right in thinking that the car charge terminal goes to the car alternator/switched +ve ( pin 10 on the 13 pin connector)?
Will I need a split charge relay or will there already be one integrated to my car already?
The car terminal goes to the other side of the rocker switch, does this connect to pin 9 of the 13pin connector could this be used for a secondary battery?
Would I be right in assuming that if it was connected to pin 9, it would drain the car battery?
Sorry for all the questions, im still trying to get my head around all this.
