Maybe silly Question ..But is it alright to use a run of the mill Car Battery Charger to charge the Leisure Battery..Or can it only be charged through the caravan Charger..
if you remove the battery and charge it,it is ok to use a car charger.a caravan charger will only charge to 13.5 volts.12.7 volts is a fully charged battery. see looking after your battery......
As above the answer is yes but remove from the van first this will give the battery a much needed boost when useing a motor mover I do this every time we are about to set off this will keep your battery in tip top condition. Ian
If you use a run of the mill charger you may damage your battery. You can buy a smart charger from Halfords that will not overcharge, they are designed specifically for deep cycle batteries.

It's starter batteries that can be wrecked, because they have thinner plates which can overheat and warp. Leisure batteries have fewer, but thicker, plates and can happily be charged at 20 amps with no damage. Most boat hire firms have massive battery chargers, because they can't risk having no fully charged leisure batteries available.
It's not current that's the problem, it's voltage. Smart chargers intelligently manage this voltage during the charging cycle and float at 13.8v. Run of the mill chargers will continue to charge at 14.4v indefinatelly.
