First posting having just purchased our first caravan, a Lunar Premier 516 1994. All works and looks fantastic, only little issue is to do with the electric flush on the toilet. Previous owner said the flush occasionally blows the little 2.5 amp fuse in the screw holder on the under side of the bowl assembly, seemed to do it on the first use of flush following arrival on site after being not used for a few weeks, then worked OK for remainder of trip. Any ideas, sounds like the motor is tight to me but wondered if anyone else had similar issue and how it was resolved?
Sounds like something that is worth getting checked out if only to avoid spending money on fuses. I think your tight motor theory might be wrong because that would cause the pump not to work at all. Check the wiring back from the switch to the pump, you may find a dirty connection or a corroded spade connector.
Agree. If the impeller of the motor was sticky, this wouldn't generally blow the fuse. It isn't un-common for poor and/or corroded terminals so do as suggested above and check through wiring first.

your observation could be right as this also happens to water pumps after standing for some time.not tight more silted up.you could give the motor a soak in milton and water to remove the silt/algae before you go then drain off.the first sign of sticking when you initially switch on will blow the fuse.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I've seen a similar thing in the past and by spinning up the pump by means of a dowel inserted into the base of the pump and using a cordless drill it cleaned off the bearings and kept it going for a while but in the end it needed a new pump. The thetford ones are expensive but I seem to remember that they were simply re badged from another manufacturer that I can't recall. They are/were? a different shape to the commonly seen Whale pumps but these can still be used with a slight mod to the retaining bracket and outlet. I am guessing it is the older bench type of cassette toilet that you have. Changing the pump is quite straight forward but you will need some shrink tubing to seal the joint in the wires.

I had this problem on mine it kept blowing the fuse inside the locker door where the casette goes, I took the toilet roll holder out and found the pump had burnt out nearly, I got a new pump of ebay for around a tenner been ok ever since.
Thanks all for replies. Tested yesterday and found pump had indeed seized, turned impeller forwards and backwards a few times and freed up so refitted, all working OK. Have ordered one off Ebay, a tenner, including p&p. Says it is made in same factory a Thetford ones, anyone tried one of these pumps? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250893157312?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1161wt_905
It certainly looks like the part needed and you even get the shrink tube. Make sure you cut the existing wires as close to the old pump as you can and that way you will have plenty of slack when installing the new one.

Pleased you've tracked this down, but still suprised the fuses blow with a sticky impeller, as that doesn't generally cause such an increase in current (unless pump physically burning out, maybe there's some hidden damage to the windings too).
