I fitted an enduro mover 3 and a half years ago. It has performed perfectly up until now. One of the gearboxes now makes a loud grinding noise when operated. It still works but I am concerned that it may fail mechanically.
My first thought is to ensure that there are no obvious signs of wear and that the internal gears/chain are fully greased, Has anyone carried this out ? Do I need to remove one of the sideplates ?
I was hoping to do this with the mover in situ, so I don't have to tremove it from the van.
Mine is original enduro now 5 years old.If yours is same model, remove wheel. On round silver plate there are 4 cap head screws, remove these with allen key and lift plate off this loctes in hole on nut on worm drive, mover will then slide out towards wheel hub.I fitted grease nipples to mine last year,1 on each side to lubricate slides 1 on metal plate where silver plate with screw are, to lubricate thread and 1 chain cover for chain.easy now just grease each year when yuo service.Hope this helps.
Just one other thing that has come to mind.About 4 years ago i went down a pot holed sandy lane to a site, the holes were full of water, i had a grinding sound after that and i removed the plates at the end off the rollers which are bolted on and found fine grit in there.I replaced the end plates and put thin washers as spacers behind them and have never had problem again.
Tried this method, but couldnt slide the mover past the suspension unit on our bailey olympus.Resorted to unclamping and dropping the whole unit to gain access to the chain drive. Problem was being caused by a sprocket fixing pin that had worked its way loose and fwas fouling the chain on each revolution, problem solved now.
The only way i can see that yours would not slide out is that when it was fitted the overall with of the mover was not set to give maximum drive width on tyre.I always fit mine so when it is engaged on tyre there is just clearance between the chain drive case and the inside wall of the tyre giving max contact width with the tyre.Glad you have sorted it.
