As i said folks, Id keep you posted on my caravan repairs, Its taken me a while but I have now finally removed all of the rotten wood, cut out the corner of floor that was rotten, the caravan is covered with a tarpaulin and the rest of the van has dried out well.
The floor is the thing Im worrying about most, but Ive took the old floor down to the outside layer of ply, the edges of it were rotten and I have cut them away, I have left the bottom layer as whole as possible so that the new wood can be fixed onto it.
Going to make a wooden frame (size of hole) then fit it into the space, thinking of inserting it inbetween the ply of exisiting wood about 1"- 2" that way it has somewhere on existing floor to fix to. If anyone has any other/better ideas, please let me know, as won't be attempting this till next weekend, not enough daylight when i get home from work.
Once floor is done, then I'll start on replacing the wood on the sides and end, Ive also got to repair my 'plastic' light panel, think car body filler should do that ? then I can stick it all back together again !!! ( love doing this, but as Wizard advised me, it's a long old slog)
Hopefully the picture will give you a better idea of what Ive done so far,
Regards
Alan
