Hi. Having replaced some wallboard in my Avondale Dart I now need to tape the joins. Magnum Motorhomes who supplied the wallboard said that the tape is no longer available.
Has anyone had any success with soaking off the wallpaper layer from a sheet of wallboard ? If so exactly how did you do this. What adhesive would you use to apply it ?
Hello, I found that using a stanley knife and a straight edge score a line of the desired width and then simply peel the cover paper off. I applied some double sided tape to the underside. Worked a treat. When I replaced the wall board I used a cream H section plactic strip which looked really neat and tidy. To make the opposite side match I trimmed down some spare H section to make a T section. Then carefully using a grinding disk in a dremmel or a drill cut a slot between the wallboards to fit and knocked it in.
We had ours replaced by the dealer when we first boughtour caravan as some little fingers had clearly peeled a strip of it off where it had started to lift slightly across the rear dinette.
They used white plastic strip and it looks lovely, they even did the ceiling joints to match, the strip was from Don Amott Caravans service department.
For more of a DIY job you can buy plastic strip by the roll which is ment for edging Contiboard, the stuff that most white flatpack furniture is made from, available from most big DIY stores and woodyards who sell the boarding.

PS forgot to add that the kind they used on ours was the ridgid D type in white, but they also do it in Cream and Pale Grey, well they did three seasona ago anyway lol!

can you take a picture of what your trying to match as i have a big roll of self adhesive tape for my caravan and an amount u need i may be able to help you out
Thanks for all the advice. In the end I used a stanley knife to score the paper into the desired strips. I then soaked the wallboard in the paddling pool for a week before the paper would peel off neatly. Worked at treat !
not sure but what about the iron on strips you can buy for kitchen units when fitting.finding the correct colour could be hard to do. if you get some glue it on to be safe from lifting the paper.
