My old caravan Im restoring has had a wet feeling to the inside fibreglass roof for some time now and I cant get to the bottom of the problem. As I say Its a fibreglass roof with loft insulation inside then boards. All possible areas have been resealed that might have leaked but this seems more than just a simple leak. I decided to remove a couple of panels from the ceiling inside. Now, The panels are perfectly dry, as are the wood batterns accross the ceiling. The damp feel seems to be all over the whole area of the fibreglass inside. Its not dripping just damp when you wipe your hand over it. Is this condensation? I might add this caravan is quite a big project as one side of the van complete had damp walls. These have all now been removed and re skinned etc, but I was wondering if the ceiling was taking some of that moisture away from those walls in the past? Now that Ive opened the ceiling panels to the air the moisture on the fibreglass is drying up quite quickly, so perhaps its a question of just airing it then putting it back?? Can anyone offer any advice please? This project is going so well but this really stumps me? :( If it was a simple leak Im sure I could locate it as it would be in one area but this seems all over?
One other point..... should there not be any ventilation in the ceiling panels inside like a small airplug here and there?

If that happened at home it would be colder out than in so condensation on your windows. Your van is cold, could do with a dry heat and I have seen it written on site. That leaving your van with night catches on so a little air gets in. others have a humidifier inside one or two maybe to grab dampness in air into the crystals and just keep emptying the base out before it gets full. or use cat tiller on tray for same reason. Change cat litter granules when needed.For winter.if you can get an electic heater going it cant do any home just keep an eye on it.Some put their heater on a few days on/off all through winter. Depends iof you have complete access or not.

my missus puts little plastic dishes of salt in the toilet + lounge. this soaks up the moisture.
just scrape off the top quarter inch when it goes crusty.

 The Lounge one is ,as long as you be careful what surface you put it on. If salt gets onto certain surfaces (wood etc) it can make a heck of a damaged mess. As this is what we did and were going to do again when we had the duff caravan but were told if a tipped up or fell over. To put the dishes on a tray so it can be caught.

 Remember if mice(hopefully they will not) get in they could spill it or drag it anywhere.Thats when I was told about a tray of cat litter does the same or get the damp humidifiers. We got 2 of the latter

The only difference some of us cannot nick our Daughter's cats litter. Although we hav ethe 2 towers for the chemical we will probably go down that same way next year. Still have to buy it not cats allowed where we live. But then I would be a dog person.

we could also invest in a small bag for caravan it would save messing about.
i'm liking the cat litter idea more n more beanpark.
