Wonder if anyone can help with this... the manual flush on my 1994 Swift Danette Diamond is making all the right noises and spitting out a bubble or two but the fluid is not coming out (yes, there is fluid in the reservoir!).
Any suggestions about what the problem might be please?
Oh - AND the Al-ko hitch has started to wobble a bit from side to side - the mechanic says it's ok, it's just wear and tear. I still feel a bit concerned about it - should I be?
The pump retainer clips on the bottom of the flush have broken, I've had it happen twice.
You need the pump retainer "C200 pump retainer - T23845" from the following website http://www.bradtech.ltd.uk/products/Thetford_Cassette_C200_Toilet_Spares.html
It comes with fitting instructions.
The Alko hitch shouldn't wobble at all and should be firm and solid and the only movement should be in and out so the mechanic is wrong in what he is saying. If it moves from side to side it is likely to bend the draw bar shaft behind which is the bar that slides in and out to operate the caravan brakes. I had this happen on my old caravan and found out that the fitter (when I collected the caravan) had fitted the wrong size Brass sleeves inside the Alko 1300 hitch. It wasn't till a year later that a fellow caravanner explained what the problem was so I had to purchase a complete new Alko kit, remove the larger ones and replace and fit the smaller correct sleeves myself which in turn made the hitch slide correctly without any side movement. If you didn't have any problem previously it may well be advised to replace the Brass sleeves as they may be worn and need replacing. Apparently there are three sets of sleeves in the kit that fit all the draw bar sizes which is the early 47mm. diameter bar, the later 48mm. bar and the later 50mm. dia. draw bar. This information I obtained from Alko customer services which I found very useful to say the least.
Sorry I can't be of any help regarding your toilet manual flush as I know very little about it's operation but hope that someone else can help with this.
Our flush was doing the same thing, stripped it down and found the base of the pump had split possibly due to having water left in over winter, borrowed some Araldite from site owner and glued it all back together.
I would have agreed straight away with Vernon87 that it's the retainer as this is a common issue with the C200 series loo, however was this model available in '94?
Here's a link to the parts drawing and the retainer is shown - see here.
Can the Op confirm her loo model?
The hitch seems to be fine (I had a tow round the block!) so I feel reassured now.
As for the toilet - it is not the one shown in the diagram. The flush is operated by turning a large knob. I've taken a pic (it's a bit dark and fuzzy, it's a rainy day today!) and I'll try and upload it...
Ok, I can't insert my pic but if you click on my gallery images, there it is! Also, any advice on how on earth I get access to the internal parts would be great!
Rachel, take a look at Thetfords support page at this link by clicking here and take a look at their "Repair instructions for all Thetford Sanitation products". This document covers a range of models and I'm sure you'll find some help by checking it out.
