Hi does anyone know the thread size of the non return valve in a carvar casscade heater?
I have had great difficulty removing one and the replacement is very tight so I was intending to get a tap to clean the threads if I could find out the size, its approx. 16mm, but could be imperal size.
Hi Cliff Not sure of the thread size but i use a bolt fron the towball fitting i cut a few groves down the thread and screw it in and out a few times to clean the thread works every time

It is indeed 16mm and a tow-ball bolt grooved as above does indeed do as good a job as a proper tap. Only problem in this instance is you need a long bolt, 4"-5" so it reaches and you still have room to get a socket on
Someone's obviously gunged a load of sealant on the thread. There's no need to put ANYTHING on these threads, as there's an O ring seal on the inlet.
I think I've already been through this one; basically you shouldn't put thread sealant where there's an O ring to do the job, blah blah blah....(I've been bought up in an engineering background, so always had it drummed into me how to do things properly. Your problems only go to show why )
Strange though, I would've thought they would be a BSP thread. you learn something new every day.
