I googled caravan restorers and nothing came back. Then I tried caravan repairs and nothing suitable came back. We have a viking fibreline that has damp issues. We need someone to do some of the work for us as we don't have the time or the space to do this project. Could anyone point us in the right direction? I'm a complete caravan novice and would appreciate any help at all. thanks

There is no information regarding your location so I can't point you in the right direction but someone on here recently was praising Caravan Medic. I'm not sure if they deal with with damp repairs at all but below is a link. If you do contact them at all please tell them that the information was found on UKCampsite.

Thanks Tango for that link. I looked on their website and it looks like they only superficial dents and stuff. Maybe we should be brave and do it ourselves at weekends.

You need to ask yourself how much you are prepared to spend on the project & will the end result be worth it? The problem professionals have with customers wanting vehicle rebuilds is that customer wildly underestimates cost & professional vehicle restorers want results that reflect the quality of their work as much of their business comes from recommendations, particularly on classic vehicle forums.

If you can get a caravan workshop to undertake repairs be prepared to offer them a blank cheque at around £50ph. If not seek out a classic vehicle restorer but they will not take it on unless they are convinced you are prepared to go all the way.

Beware of anybody prepared to give you a fixed price as you could well end up with a bodge job. This happens so many times when people with no practical skill or mechanical knowledge think they can simply open their wallets to get the results they want but are not prepared to spend the necessary amount.

Ownership of a classic vehicle is far more satisfying if you can carry out most of the work yourself & far more economically viable.

Thanks Tentz, that all sounds like very sensible advice. Have been looking at the Fixed Club and we're thinking maybe we can do the damp repairs ourselves. And I think your're right, as well as being cheaper it's going to be a lot more satisfying.

I have to agree with Tentz all the way he is right about everything he has said that man talks alot of sence he realy knows his stuff,i have just had a large repair fixed on my van and I can tell you it was very expensive but it was repaired properly and I can recomend the company that did the job but it was costly the company is called Reads Caravans at Blackburn look on their web site.Ian
