My battery box door is broken where the hinge moulding meets the box door. It looks as though the hole for thye EHU is too small and has forced the door to strain. I've made the hole for the EHU a bit bigger with a round file and the door closes OK now but I need to repair the moulding / hinge.  I know how I would do it if the panel was GRP by using glass mat and resin but will this material work on the smooth plastic that my box door is made from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want / can't afford a new door.

Difficult to say without seeing the extent of the damage. You may get away with patching it up with some epoxy putty. If you search ebay for Milliput, it is available for a couple of quid in white, so wouldn't stand out too much.

That's a good article of Lawrence's one thing I would add though is to give it a coat of paint before fitting it. If the wood soaks up enough moisture then it is liable to expand and lock the hinge up.

Hi
Is it just a crack in the moulding??
if so what about super glue with baking powder added
also known as Q bond.
used this on front locker hindge (reinforcing moulding to door)on my bailey.

I too had the problem with the EHU cable being too thick for the entry slot, and likewise opened it up to reduce the strain.

Q bond is good stuff, especially if you can reinforce the surrounding area with the supplied powder, which you will need to do to reduce the possibility of it cracking again.
