1991 I'd think as this is a common problem on this years model of burner module.
Nothing I doubt you can do as it's an electronic fault, you can though send it to me for reapir and it then comes back with a 12 month warranty

Agree  with Michael.

The voltage is too low. Some checks to do

If the battery is conected  disconect then check the the charge meter, You dont need a battery if your conneted to a hook up. If alls ok then the battery is kuput

I would suspect the gas burner module has a fault ,i had a new Avondale in 1989 and in 4 years i had it, 2 packed up .I then bought an Elddis in 1993 and sold it in 1996 and 1 packed up in that during that time.

With all due respect, if the red is coming on with green when it's switched on, then the timer circuit has reduced to zero seconds. That's why I know how old it is, because it's only mark3 modules that suffer, these are made late 1990 to very early 92, it was then replaced with the mk3a which removed the problem.
It's nothing to do with voltage or the yellow would be lit.
However, if the red is following the green after several seconds, then this would be different but that's not how I read the op's question?

Hi, it's Gary BTW, Tweety Pie who write my name at the end of my posts, has gone missing and I'm still awaiting his return to UKCS?!

However, your's is not the 'same' problem, it's another which is common throughout the life of the Cascade, not confined to one or two years production.
Solution though is generally the same, but again in pre 90's it could just be a little damp on the electronics, these are basically those 'burner modules' with two electrodes over the burner, if only one then it's far more unlikely to work
This then requires the burner module removal from the water heater, the black box opening and the printed circuit board inside stood up and then taken indoors overnight to thoroughly dry out.
You can then reinstall it and try it, with a little luck they often then work fine.

Of course this all relies on you being capable of doing the above, although not particularly difficult, if your in any doubt you must seek local professional help.

If though this fails to cure it then it needs repair and this I can do for you
