Hi all - just took the van away this weekend for first time this year (having been properly drained last autumn), as expected there was a certain amount of air in the pipes when we switched on, especially the hot tap, but the next morning I heard a less than normal sound of running water!

Upon inspection I found there was water running down the back of the cupboard under the kitchen sink, however I''m a bit confused by this as it was the basin tap in the bathroom on the opposite side of the van that was running at the time. I would not have thought that either supply or waste water would have made it over to the kitchen side of the van at all as both the water inlet & waste outlet are on the bathroom side of the van...

I had a visual check underneath the van & found damp patches under both sinks. Before I start pulling out the fridge & doing anything drastic can anyone offer any advise as to where I should start on this repair please.

Thanks

Steve

When you turn on bathroom tap, microswitch operates & completes 12v circuit to allow pump to run & pump water thru whole system, hence leaking water at kitchen sink. It sounds as if water was left in system over winter which froze & the expansion of the ice has cracked a pipe.

As pipes are flexible it could well be plastic at base of taps that has cracked if this is indeed the problem. You will have to get under sink to unscrew retaining ring to remove tap.

Thanks - I'll take a look tomorrow.

I must admit thoguh I thought I'd done everything to prevent freezing by draining down the tank & loo etc, to prevent damage in the future what is there something else I need to do to prevent water freezing in the taps (not sure how I would do this as I can't of course run the taps with no water & electrics attached which would be self defeating anyway!)

thanks

Steve
