Hi All
i have a thetford fridge and it will not work on 12 volt or mains but will work on gas does anyone know why this is i have done a little homework but not sure what to do
i have seen that people say to replace the electric heater element but is there 2 of these elements i.e 12v and 240v mains ?cos if so surely both can not have gone can they?
any help will be appreciated

it will not work on 12 volt unless connected to the car and running.for the mains check it has not tripped off or a fuse has not gone.if not it could well be the element needs replacing.run it on gas for about 5 hours then try the electric again as it could be a bit of damp at the element.

so it will not run off the van 12 v leisure battery on 12volt ?

Just as a second confirmation, michael (above) is quite right what he says that the fridge will only operate on 12 volts when connected up to the towcar. The only 12 volt power you can use in a caravan is the water pump, lighting, a radio/CD player and an electric flush toilet. Everything else has to be powered either by 240 volt mains or by gas.
