I have the main caravan sides that are joined in 2 halves, on one side of the caravan they have started to part.
On further investigation there is some stuff between the 2 metal sheets that is sticky and quite messy, bit like blue tack?
I have removed as much as i can, but now what is the best to get it back together.
I am looking at Sikaflex 512, is this like a strong bonding glue type sealant, and is that the best stuff to do the job.
Sikaflex 512 is a strong bonding sealant and I would think ideal for the job. The only problem I forsee is can you get the nozzle between the panels to apply the sikaflex and if you can, how are you going to hold the panels together whilst the stuff sets....

I have a cunning plan for this once i get the 512 inside and covered the area, i then have cut a length of wood and several other lengths that i will wedge between the side of my caravan and the side of the house so that a constant pressure is applied whilst it sets.
I have cleaned as much of the existing putty type stuff out as i can will this be ok?
Many moons ago I had a similar problem and rather than trying to bond the panels together I used a length of aluminium trim profile and screwed that over the joint bedding it in with sealant tape. All screwed down with stainless steel screws and capped with matching colour strip as per the other profiles on the caravan. It made a neat job and additionally improved the look of the caravan.

It would help if you mask up the 'van and use plastic sheet over your wood bits, as Sikaflex is not easy to clean up when it is set, and you really don't want the wood pressure pads to become a permanent feature!
